Measles booster vaccination advances in Nicaragua

Managua, July 11 (Prensa Latina) The national measles booster vaccination campaign being carried out by the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (MINSA) is advancing here as part of the government's strategies to prevent the spread of the disease.

The most recent report released by the MINSA indicated that the Central American country has already reached 99,2% compliance with the national goal, having administered 1,255,524 vaccine doses.

The free immunization process, which began last June and will conclude this month, includes Nicaraguan children between one and 14 years of age. According to reports, vaccination is being carried out through house-to-house visits, in health units, schools, and markets, and includes the participation of the Community Network, Sandinista Youth 19 de Julio, health sector workers, and families.

Last April, the Health Ministry MINSA) indicated in a report that Nicaragua would strengthen national surveillance by vaccinating children and monitoring suspected clinical cases through rapid response teams to prevent their introduction and spread.

According to the Health Ministry (MINSA), among the strategies to combat the disease, they plan to analyze vaccination coverage by population and births weekly for the year 2024 in sectors and municipalities.
