Maduro wrote on his Telegram channel, “I am sure that the brotherly Cuban people will continue fighting; you can count on Venezuela and ALBA-TCP (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty) to make the dream of Bolivar, Marti, Fidel, and Chavez come true.”
The Bolivarian president emphasized “Venezuela Always with Cuba!”
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry expressed its strongest and most categorical rejection this Friday of what it called Rubio’s “infamous pronouncement,” which seeks to sanction the Cuban president.
The official release stated that it is “an intolerable affront to International Law that a US government official assumes the power to sanction a Head of State of a sovereign country” and described the action as “a new example of hatred, unhealthy obsession, and imperial arrogance.”
The document underscored that the attempt to punish the Cuban president is not only a violation of the fundamental principles of coexistence among nations, but also “an expression of profound contempt for the free peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
The text stated that the US Secretary of State “is nothing more than a spokesperson for resentment and the blind failure of hatred, overwhelmed by Cuba’s invincible dignity.”
It also denounced before the international community “the policy of systematic aggression promoted by the current US Secretary of State, whose only agenda is to prolong the Monroe Doctrine under new masks.”
