Based on a new Ipsos poll for La Tribune Dimanche, both politicians have 33% support, while at least half of those interviewed rejected their hopes of running for the Élysée Palace, given their radical positions on immigration and nationalism.
Le Pen, who lost the runoff to Emmanuel Macron in the 2017 and 2022 elections, reaffirmed that she remains an RN candidate, despite the political disqualification against her for embezzling public funds, a decision she challenged in the hope that a court will overturn it before the polls.
The MP also confirmed that if the ruling is not overturned, her successor, Bardella, will represent the organization in the elections.
Behind the leading figures of the far right, the French have named former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe as a presidential candidate, with 27% support.
Philippe aspires to be the center-right candidate in the 2027 elections, a position also coveted by Gabriel Attal (23) of the ruling party, who also served as head of government.
As informed by Ipsos, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is fourth in the poll, with 25%, four points lower than last month’s poll for the conservative leader.
On the left, the best-placed candidates are Raphaël Glucksmann (Public Square) and former Socialist President François Hollande, with 19%.
