Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian noted that Beijing holds the rotating presidency of the SCO for the 2024-2025 period, and that the summit is scheduled to be held in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin this fall.
He also added that the Foreign Ministers’ meeting aims to facilitate political preparations for the summit.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the meeting, and his counterparts from the member states will exchange views on SCO in various fields, in addition to addressing major international and regional issues.
China is willing to use the meeting as an opportunity to work with other parties to reach greater consensus on cooperation and take further measures, ensure the complete success of the Tianjin summit, and promote the SCO’s entry into a new stage of high-quality development, the spokesperson said.
