Cuba’s Supertanker Base capabilities recovers

Havana, Jul 14 (Prensa Latina) Authorities said today that the Supertanker Base in the western Cuban province of Matanzas, affected by a major fire, is recovering its capacity.

The digital media Cubadebate adds that almost three years after the unfortunate fire at Matanzas Supertanker Base, progress has been made in the recovery of the fuel storage capacity.

They explained that palpable progress is taking place in the recovery of the 200,000 cubic meters of fuel storage capacity lost in August 2022.

The four tanks totally destroyed by the flames are gradually being replaced thanks to the collaboration between Cuba and China, whose work is giving shape to tanks 88, 49-1, 86 and 87, says Cubadebate, based on broadcasts by Yumuri TV.

The head of the Integrated Project Management, industrial engineer Richard Daniel Martinez, said that in general the work is progressing.

The four containers have the enclosure and are in the phase of mechanical completion and then move on to the puncture phase, the expert said.

Tank 88, manufactured by Cuban forces, is 60 percent complete, while the remaining three, with great progress, are being carried out by Chinese workers, but will not be side by side like the damaged ones, rather on a lower area, and the other two on the upper part.
