The Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries has called a press conference regarding the measure, which was announced the day before.
According to the measure, the issuance of new export resolutions for live cattle for immediate slaughter is temporarily suspended.
A statement signed by Sandra Acosta, head of the Animal Health Division of this Ministry, said that an announcement will be made when the issuance of permits will resume.
So far in 2025, live cattle exports total 116,864 head, according to data from the National Meat Institute.
This represents a 19 percent increase compared to shipments during the same period in 2024 (from January to May).
Last February, the ministry reported on the opening of markets in Algeria and Israel for Uruguayan live cattle exports.
