The regional organization’s secretariat-general denounced in a statement that the so-called “humanitarian city” has not the slightest connection to civilization or humanity.
“We reject the project in form and substance, which reflects a new level of moral and ethical decadence on the part of Israel,” the statement stated.
The objective, it added, is to continue the plan of ethnic cleansing and reoccupy that Palestinian territory.
The Arab League urged the international community to “firmly oppose these inhuman plans.”
It also called for a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible and, in this regard, called on Israel not to hinder efforts to reach a truce in the area, which has been under fire since October 2023.
The Palestinian National Council condemned the Israeli initiative this week, arguing that it will in reality be a massive prison for hundreds of thousands of people.
The proposal represents a dangerous shift toward implementing a massive forced displacement project against our people, under the guise of humanitarian action, denounced the president of that institution, Rawhi Fattouh.
The plan constitutes a direct extension of Israel’s crimes of genocide, he asserted.
