Raul Castro and Diaz-Canel at opening session of Cuban Parliament

Havana, July 16 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, are taking part in the inaugural session of the Fifth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power.

The legislative agenda includes an evaluation of the implementation and impact of the Government Program measures to correct distortions and boost the economy, with a speech by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.

During the morning, the deputies will also debate a report on the results of the main economic indicators at the end of the first half of 2025, presented by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Joaquin Alonso.

For his part, the Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro, will update parliamentarians on the progress of the State budget for this year and the settlement of budget figures executed during 2024.

During this regular session, the bills on the “Cuban Sports System,” the General Regime of Contraventions and Administrative Sanctions, the “Civil Registry,” and the “Code for Children, Adolescents, and Youth” will be submitted for consideration by the deputies.
