The decision, which takes effect before September 20, was adopted in response to a proposal presented earlier this week by Francesca Albanese, special envoy of the UN secretary-general for the occupied Palestinian territories, at a meeting of the Hague Group Emergency Conference held in Bogota, the Colombian capital.
Among the countries committed to suspending arms sales and other commercial and economic operations with Tel Aviv are Bolivia, Cuba, Colombia, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, and Spain, meanwhile Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and South Africa will implement them immediately.
Member countries should review and suspend all ties with Israel: military, strategic, political, diplomatic, economic relations, imports, and exports, the official suggested, according to the text of her statement distributed to members of the world body at its New York headquarters.
Likewise, the diplomat, who described the Israeli invasion of Gaza as genocidal, urged insurance companies, banks, pension funds, universities, and other merchandise suppliers to take the same measures.
