The legislature will assess a report on the work carried out by the government of Camaguey, issue followed by another report by a commission from the National Association of Cuban Farmers (ANAP).
Parliament members also plan to review the bills “On the Cuban Sports System” and the Code of Children, Adolescents, and Youth.
During Thursday’s session, deputies assessed the results of the Parliament’s oversight of the Ministry of Transportation (Mitrans), an agency that is striving to reverse the sector’s decline and, they noted, has the potential to do so.
The parliamentary commission that evaluated the management of the Ministry of Transportation extolled the search for local solutions to problems in an effort to halt the decline in economic indicators and achieve self-sustainability.
The transportation agency still fails to fully guarantee the population’s needs, due to fuel shortages, poor technical conditions of its park, and a lack of foreign currency financing for the purchase of parts, components, and accessories, the Parliament report stated.
Furthermore, the Foreign Policy guidelines for the 2025-2028 period were approved; the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (Inder) was reported; strategies for improving institutional and grassroots oversight mechanisms were analyzed; and the draft law for the General Regime of Contraventions and Administrative Sanctions was presented. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who defined the preservation of independence and the defense of the Revolution and socialism as one of the priorities of the country’s foreign policy, meant that a second priority for the country is the search for options that will speed up economic recovery, advance development, and address the main problems that lead to suffering, hardship, shortages, and deprivation for Cuban families.
