The first project had a budget of 80 million gourdes (US$606,060), and the second has a budget of 70 million (US$530,303).
Monazard also mentioned other initiatives aimed at shoemaking and sewing, with a budget of US$30 million specifically for footwear manufacturing.
Along these lines, Haiti’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor aims to improve employment opportunities amid the country’s current political instability and the insecurity caused by gangs.
Georges Wilbert, head of the aforementioned ministry, explained that there is a draft decree aimed at creating a National Unemployment Insurance Office, which is currently being reviewed for approval.
Another document under consideration seeks to make internships accessible to graduates within companies.
In addition, the creation of a commission is underway to support the establishment of a national network of shelters and re-education homes, Wilbert stated.
