In a speech broadcast on national television, the president expressed his condemnation of the crimes and violations that have occurred both in Sweida and in other regions, and stressed the need to restore justice and firmly enforce the law.
“The Syrian State is fully committed to protecting all minorities, religious communities, and ethnic groups in the country,” Al-Shara stated, assuring that measures are being taken to hold those responsible for the violations accountable.
In his speech, the head of State stressed the urgency of prioritizing reason and wisdom in these critical moments and called on the country’s sensible forces to lead efforts toward reconciliation.
He also criticized the attempt by some internal actors to exploit the situation in Sweida as a tool in regional and international conflicts, warning that “seeking external support does not provide solutions for Syrians, but rather deepens the national crisis.”
Al-Shara reaffirmed that Sweida is an integral part of the Syrian state and highlighted the historical role of the Al-Shara. He also assured that Sweida is an integral part of the Syrian state while praising the historical role of the Druze community as an essential component of the national territory.
“Recent events have demonstrated that the people of Sweida, with all its sects, support the unity of the state and reject partition projects,” he noted.
The president emphasized that Syria is not a testing ground for secession, fragmentation, or sectarian incitement, and reaffirmed his commitment to national sovereignty.
Regarding the mediation process to achieve a cessation of hostilities, he expressed his gratitude for the support of the United States during these difficult circumstances and appreciated the positions of the European Union, Russia, and China in rejecting Israeli bombings and the continued violations of Syrian sovereignty.
