According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun, bilateral relations are currently experiencing a key moment, with new opportunities and challenges.

The spokesperson stated that the high-level meeting will strengthen strategic communication, deepen talks, and expand cooperation to benefit not only China and Europe but also the world as a whole.

He added, “China is willing to work together with the EU to achieve a successful summit that sends a clear signal abroad: both are committed to strengthening their partnership and defending multilateralism and open cooperation.”

Guo said that over the last 50 years, bilateral relations have become one of the most influential in the world, with cooperation that has generated significant results and benefited nearly two billion people in both regions.

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Beijing on an official visit this week to attend the 25th China-EU bilateral summit, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
