Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister arrives in Vietnam

Hanoi, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver is arriving in this capital on Tuesday for a three-day working visit to Vietnam, during which he will co-chair a round of Inter-Ministerial Political Consultations.

Peñalver’s stay in Hanoi is part of a tour that began in China on Sunday and will conclude in Laos on Friday. This tour aims to continue strengthening ties and cooperation between Cuba and these three sister nations.

According to the visit’s program, the Cuban minister will arrive here tonight from Beijing to begin his activities on Wednesday with a tribute to the hero of Vietnamese independence, President Ho Chi Minh, at the mausoleum where his mortal remains rest.

He will later hold a courtesy meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and then meet with executives from the Gelex Group and Genfarma Holdings, visiting one of their production plants.

Meetings are also scheduled with officials from the Defense and Security Committee and the International Relations Committee of the National Assembly (Parliament), as well as Deputy Construction Minister Nguyen Viet Hung.

On Thursday, the Cuban deputy foreign minister will lay a wreath at the monument built to National Hero Jose Marti at a central square in Hanoi and will co-chair, along with Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, the 8th round of Inter-Ministerial Political Consultations.

At the end of the meeting, the 2025-2027 Consultation Plan, a mechanism considered key for exchanging views and talks, will be signed to enable strengthening strategic communication in a context of shared visions and challenges.

Peñalver’s working visit takes place in the context of the Vietnam-Cuba Year of Friendship and the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
