The event coincides with the 214th anniversary of the first legislative body in 1811, considered a crucial moment in the formation of institutionality and the pursuit of political autonomy.

Although the entity was dissolved by a coup d’etat in December of that year, its legacy is considered a benchmark in the fight for independence from the Spanish kingdom and the construction of the Republic.

Senate President Manuel Jose Ossandon and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Jose Miguel Castro, will report this Wednesday on all achievements made between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Some of the legislative body’s significant milestones during this period include the Karin Law to prevent and punish workplace harassment, sexual harassment, and violence, as well as regulations on the labor inclusion of people with disabilities.

Also included are the protection and processing of personal data, the creation of the Ministry of Public Security, the approval of a mixed retirement system, and a social security system designed to improve the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU).
