The Ministry of Commerce informed that both sides agreed on the meeting to continue talks within the framework of the bilateral consultation mechanism.
According to the Ministry, the Chinese and US delegations will discuss economic and trade issues of mutual interest under the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
This new meeting is part of the talks that began in June, when both delegations met in the United Kingdom and reached the so-called “London Framework.”
Beijing and Washington reached a trade agreement on May 12, in which they committed to reducing tariffs significantly and taking other measures to ease tensions, in addition to establishing a permanent mechanism for economic and trade consultations.
However, bilateral tensions continued to rise after the United States accused China of violating the commitments of that agreement, while the Asian nation denounced the northern country for taking new restrictive measures on semiconductors and announcing the cancellation of visas for Chinese students.
