Haiti’s government to allocate more resources to fight gangs

Port-au-Prince, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The government of Haiti's interim Prime Minister Alix Didier and the Transitional Presidential Council finally agreed Wednesday on the intention to allocate more resources to fighting gangs.

The authorities confirmed, in a statement, the implementation of exceptional budgetary and logistical measures aimed at strengthening immediately the capacity of the Haitian National Police to intensify and speed up operations against criminal gangs.

The leaders of the Caribbean nation underscored the need for ongoing and close coordination between all national institutions and international partners.

They called for a national mobilization to defend peace, stability, and the free movement of citizens, as security remains the State’s top priority.

The Le Facteur Haiti digital newspaper reported that the government wants to allocate the greatest amount of resources to protect the population, restore republican authority, and prepare for free and democratic elections in November 2025.
