At the 34th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on Border Affairs between India and China, held in New Delhi, representatives from both countries expressed their satisfaction with the positive situation in the bordering territories.
Led by Gourangalal Das, Assistant Secretary for East Asia, and Hong Liang, Director General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain regular diplomatic and military exchanges and contacts through established mechanisms.
With a view to promoting effective border management and maintaining peace and tranquility, both sides discussed various measures explored during previous meetings, according to a release from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
Both sides also prepared for the next round of Special Representatives’ Talks on the Boundary Issue to be held in India later this year, the official source emphasized.
The head of the Chinese delegation exchanged with India’s Secretary of State for External Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs added.
