The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) explained, through a statement, that the event is considered the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)’s highest technical platform on environmental issues.
The meeting will bring together senior officials from the organization’s 10 member states to strengthen policies, strategies, and regional cooperation on environmental protection.
According to the statement, ASOEN-36 will focus on biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of natural resources, and joint actions to address climate change.
To ensure a more unified ASEAN voice in global climate negotiations, the meeting will begin by discussing the Joint Declaration on Climate Change, which the bloc will present at the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
