Uruguay asures that today’s complexities ratify Fidel Castro’s ideas

Montevideo, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The complex problems the world is currently facing confirm the validity of Fidel Castro's work and thought, speakers agreed at a meeting held in Maldonado, east of the Uruguayan capital.

The discussion was convened by the departmental leadership of the Communist Party of Uruguay on the two upcoming anniversaries: July 26, Cuba’s National Rebelliousness Day, and August 13, the revolutionary leader’s 99th birthday.

Ignacio Badeiro, on behalf of the Communist Party of Uruguay, said we are living in times in which the United States’ intention to rule the American continent is becoming blatant.

He noted that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution left a legacy of struggle for sovereignty and independence that needs to be revived.

PhD. in Economics Daniel Barrios described Fidel as a renaissance personality in which is combined at a time the head of State, the revolutionary, the irreplaceable political leader, and the intellectual who puts ideas into practice.

Fidel came true the slogan that another world is possible, he asserted.

The revolution he led “began the construction of socialism just 90 miles from imperialism and influenced revolutionary thought worldwide,” Ambassador Antonio Pardo, Cuba’s Charge d’Affaires in this nation, stated.

Pardo underscored that the legacy of Fidel Castro’s thought “is valuable in combating confusion, weaknesses, or complicity that can lead to dangerous situations in revolutionary and independence processes.”

Y subrayó que el legado del pensamiento de Fidel Castro “es muy valioso para combatir confusiones, debilidades o complicidades que pueden resultar muy peligrosas en los procesos revolucionarios e independentistas”.
