Venezuela closes municipal election campaign

Caracas, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The electoral campaign leading up to the July 27 municipal elections concludes in Venezuela on Thursday, 48 hours before more than 21 million voters are called to vote to elect mayors and council members.

The candidates for those positions from the ruling party and the diverse opposition had 14 days to deploy their different proposals and initiatives across the country’s 335 municipalities.

The Great Simon Bolivar Patriotic Pole forces launched an intense campaign alongside the people under the slogan “People who solve problems,” and the active participation of the newly elected governors, who won 23 of 24 governorships on May 25.

The National Electoral Council planned the electoral campaign from July 11 to 24, in which participated 53 political parties, divided into 36 national political parties, 10 regional parties, three national indigenous organizations, and four regional ones.

On his Wednesday TV program “Con el Mazo Dando,” Diosdado Cabello, Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), described the campaign conducted by the Great Simon Bolivar Patriotic Pole alliance as a “gorgeous campaign in every municipality and electoral district.”

Jorge Rodriguez, head of the Unified Command of the Bolivarian Revolution, emphasized that the Great Simon Bolivar Patriotic Pole candidates walked the streets, visited homes, and spoke with the people to learn about their needs and difficulties, and talked of their hopes.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called on the people to participate actively in the municipal elections, in which, for the first time, young people could vote for their development projects as part of the 3rd National Popular Consultation.
