“Of course, we condemn what is happening right now, and Mexico is putting all its words and actions into building peace between these two states,” the president asserted in response to a question about the deaths of children due to hunger in the aforementioned enclave.
The president noted that the representative of this Latin American nation at the United Nations (UN) has expressed Mexico’s position.
“In all international forums, and our United Nations representative has stated publicly, and we have done so here, we seek peace and the peaceful coexistence of two states, the State of Israel and the State of Palestine,” he emphasized.
The Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, denounced that one in five children is malnourished in Gaza and the cases are increasing every day, while more than 100 people, the vast majority of them children, have died of hunger.
Lazzarini quoted the message from a UN worker on the ground: “The people in Gaza are neither alive nor dead, they are walking corpses.”
Since the beginning of Israel’s offensive in that territory in October 2023, more than 59,000 people have died, most of them women and children, in addition to UN warnings that the enclave is facing a total humanitarian collapse.
