Prime Minister urges to defend socialism in Cuba

Havana, July 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero urged to increase work to preserve the achievements of socialism in Cuba, in his closing speech of the commemoration of National Rebellion Day.

During his speech at the Maximo Gomez Revolution Square in Ciego de Avila province, he asserted that it is possible to boost the country’s comprehensive growth, despite the hostility of Trump administration.

Marrero asserted that Donald Trump administration persists in attempting to overthrow the Revolution through policies and sanctions to “cause hunger and desperation” in the people, although he acknowledged that not all of the nation’s problems are a consequence of the U.S. blockade.

The solutions to these difficulties, he stated, require a popular confrontation with errors and shortcomings, with the conviction that progress can indeed be made, “thanks to the determination, hard work, intelligence, and commitment of the Cuban people.”

Cuba, he declared, faces its challenges with the conviction of victory, and noted that the ability to overcome obstacles is linked to national identity and revolutionary history.

The Prime Minister also noted that 2026 will be a “very special” year because it will mark the centenary of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the 9th Congress of the Communist Party, which will address national priorities.

Marrero also said that amid global crises, Cuba’s foreign policy will remain revolutionary and supportive, and will defend justice, sovereignty, and the right of peoples to freely determine their destiny.
