Vietnam congrats Cuba on 72nd anniversary of Moncada Garrison attack

Hanoi, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Top Vietnamese leaders congratulated their Cuban counterparts on the 72nd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison, an action led by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

According to press reports, To Lam, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and President Luong Cuong sent a message of congratulations to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in turn, congratulated his Cuban counterpart, Manuel Marrero, as National Assembly (Parliament) Chairman Tran Thanh Man did with his counterpart from the Cuban National People’s Power Assembly, Esteban Lazo.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also sent a congratulatory message to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

Cuba celebrates National Rebelliousness Day every July 26 in commemoration of the attacks on the Moncada Garrison in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrison in the eastern city of Bayamo.

Both actions were conducted in 1953 by some 160 young revolutionaries recognized by history as the Centennial Generation.
