Ahmed’s remarks came after meeting with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, who is in Addis Ababa to participate in the conclave scheduled for July 27-29.
The discussion focused on key global and continental priorities, in particular the urgency of transforming food systems in Africa and beyond.
The Ethiopian head of government noted that the country is driving comprehensive policies, boosting climate-smart agriculture and community-based approaches to improve food security and nutrition.
He highlighted the government’s determination to lead by example in implementing solutions that address both local needs and global challenges.
During the day, Ahmed received the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu.
