Venezuela: Municipal elections proceeding normally

Caracas, July 27 (Prensa Latina) Jorge Rodriguez, head of the Ven25+ National Campaign Command, assured that the municipal election process is proceeding normally throughout Venezuela today.

Speaking to the press from his headquarters in Caracas, the Venezuelan politician explained that the election day has only been hindered by some damage caused by rain in the southwestern state of Apure and parts of the western region of the country.

The president of the National Assembly (parliament) emphasized that “peace has already triumphed in Venezuela’s electoral processes,” in the face of an attack he considered remote, led by extremist sectors that “attempted to sow violence and hatred of brothers against brothers.”

He remembered that last year, in the presidential elections on July 28, this extreme opposition dragged people from their homes to lynch them, burn them alive, and injure young people with bullets.

In this regard, he commented on the significant difference with this process, when it is the youth who “are dominating the candidacies and youth projects for the Communal Circuits.”

Rodriguez emphasized that extremism has been defeated and that Venezuelan democrats have overcome it. Regardless of their political worldview and beliefs, every vote “goes to strengthen democracy, peace, and harmony.”

He praised the fact that the elections of May 25 generated a fruitful process of dialogue between the 24 elected governors and the people who voted for them and the representatives in parliament. Now, he predicted, “a profound dialogue will also be generated between the mayors and the residents.”
