His death brought the number of Palestinians in the coastal enclave who lost their lives due to lack of food to 134, including 88 children, the official Wafa news agency reported.

According to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June in the area.

This situation has worsened with the implementation of the mechanism created by Israel and the USA to provide aid to the coastal enclave, denounced Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner General.

“This mechanism is serving military and political objectives. It is cruel because it takes more lives than it saves. Israel controls all aspects of humanitarian access, whether inside or outside Gaza,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme (WFP) described the need for food in the Strip as desperate, noting that the crisis has reached unprecedented levels.

“We see people who have gone days without food and are dying of hunger,” the entity said, referring to the lack of food due to the blockade imposed by Israel since early March.
