Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted the key role of the international community, especially Malaysia as a pro tempore chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in facilitating dialogue between the two nations.

Guo pointed out that Malaysia promoted active and coordinated efforts that contributed decisively to the bilateral meeting held on Monday.

The result was a consensus to halt hostilities, considered essential to calming regional tensions.

According to Guo, Beijing supports ASEAN’s approach to resolving conflicts through regional mechanisms and reiterated China’s support for any initiative that strengthens mutual trust and promotes de-escalation.

He also affirmed that his country, as a neighbor and friend of Cambodia and Thailand, will maintain close communication with both parties.

The leaders of Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia issued a joint statement on Monday following the trilateral talks held in the official residence of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
