El Salvador: July marks record of fewest murders for a single month

San Salvador, July 29 (Prensa Latina) July marked the month with the fewest murders attributable to gangs in El Salvador, according to a report from the National Civil Police.

Although there are still three days left until August, the gap between July and February of this year has been broken as the month with the fewest deaths (26).

This figure meant that between January 1 and July 28, 2025, there were 175 days free of homicides attributed to the so-called maras gangs, which, according to official reports, are trying to re-emerge, a fact used as the main argument to maintain the state of emergency.

Likewise, under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, the country is moving toward 1,000 murder-free days, having already accumulated 973 between June 2019 and July 28, 2025.

Of that total, 859 were recorded during the state of emergency approved by the Legislative Assembly on March 27, 2022, at the proposal of the Presidential Palace.

One aspect highlighted this Tuesday by media outlets such as Diario El Salvador is that since June 2019, El Salvador has been a safer country for women, achieving a sustained reduction in femicides.

Reports from the Attorney General’s Office point out that crimes against women have decreased by 96,7% so far in 2025 equal to the figures recorded in 2015.
