Promoted by Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Department of Culture and Sports in conjunction with several media outlets, the initiative was launched on Monday at a ceremony held there to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Moncada Garrison.
Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, described the campaign, which will run until November 30 in the context of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as a vivid demonstration of the great and lasting friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
Loc Ha alluded to the complex situation the island is currently facing, especially in the energy sector, and urged everyone to join this project imbued with the spirit of mutual love, support, and pure and constant loyalty.
He underscored that this action will not only provide students with better learning conditions but also show the international solidarity and that of the Vietnamese people with their Cuban friends in hard times.
He also added that it will contribute to further fostering and deepening the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, built with the blood and effort of many generations, and “has proven its worth throughout history.”
Upon expressing her gratitude for the sentiments and support of the Communist Party Committee, the Government, and the people of Ho Chi Minh City, Cuban Consul General there, Ariadne Feo Labrada, said the event also celebrated fundamental values for humanity, such as friendship, solidarity, and internationalism.
