Sponsored by the Venezuelan Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, the meeting seeks to foster plural and inclusive discourse, so more than 2,000 people will participate via videoconference.
“Faced with the media blockade, one of the most brutal weapons of the multidimensional war on the Global South peoples, unity becomes our trench.
It is through solidarity that we defend access to the truth, peace, and a future free of manipulation,” the call underscores.
The event’s program aims to address current communication challenges, with panels and micro-workshops on freedom of speech, fact-checking, conflict coverage, and the strategic use of digital networks.
The challenges facing alternative media, the restrictions imposed by large technology platforms, and the importance of offering a unique and decolonizing vision of Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean by creating content with a sovereign approach are among the key issues to be addressed.
In addition to Venezuela, the Voices of the New World forum brings together in Caracas communications professionals from Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Cuba, Egypt, Spain, the United States, Iran, Lebanon, Mali, Mexico, Namibia, Portugal, Russia, and South Africa.
