Speaking at the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on Tuesday, Venezuela’s Alternate Permanent Representative, Joaquin Perez, spoke on behalf of the bloc of countries.
The diplomat stressed the need to take concrete actions to end the colonization, occupation, and systematic violence against the Palestinian people, aimed at guaranteeing peace through justice, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil posted on his Telegram channel.
The social media post, accompanied by an audiovisual excerpt from Perez’s speech, stated that to ensure this just peace, “demanding the United States cease its complicity with Israel is essential.”
He noted that this collusion is expressed “in the use of a veto in the United Nations bodies and the direct arms supply and economic resources that perpetuate the illegal occupation of Palestine.”
On behalf of the Group of Friends,Perez ratified the commitment to resolving “one of the most painful conflicts of our time.”
He also reaffirmed his full support for the Palestinian cause and his unwavering solidarity with that people in their struggle for self-determination and freedom, including the independence of a sovereign and viable State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Perez affirmed that all this is under the relevant resolutions adopted by the UN and the two-state solution.
