Everything is ready to pack electoral containers in Bolivia

La Paz, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The printing of eight million ballots to be used in the August 17 general elections has been completed, and the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) is preparing to ship them to 22 countries on Friday.

“Today, 100 percent of the ballots have been printed. What does that mean? Now, the next step is to distribute those ballots (…),” the TSE member Tahuichi Tahuichi Quispe stated, and added that the DHL firm will conduct the shipment.

Quispe informed that 35,253 ballot boxes will be assembled, 34,026 of which are for Bolivia and 1,227 are for voting in 22 foreign countries.

He explained, “Each electoral container is for one polling station, so 35,253 polling centers will be in operation on August 17. In the case of Bolivia, each polling station has an average of 240 eligible voters, while it reaches 320 abroad (…).”

Oscar Hassenteufel, interim president of the TSE, stated that the distribution of electoral materials will begin between this Friday and Saturday.

Hassenteufel commented, “An agreement has finally been reached with DHL, and starting Friday or Saturday, the materials will be sent abroad.”

An estimated 7,937,138 citizens, both in Bolivia and abroad, are eligible to vote on August 17.
