Panamanian Ambassador to New York, Eloy Alfaro, stated that among the issues to be addressed are the protection of women in armed conflicts, the peace agreements in Colombia, and topics related to the Middle East and the African continent.
The crisis in Haiti is also another issue of interest in this global body.
Regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Ambassador Alfaro affirmed that they acknowledge difficulties in distributing supplies, including food, water, and fuel.
The presidency of the UNSC rotates alphabetically among its members. Panama is part of a group known as the E-10, comprising ten states elected for a rotating two-year term.
As president of the Council, the Panamanian representative will have the role of coordinating work, consulting on proposals, and participating in negotiations to draft resolutions or declarations on several issues.
