Amid the commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the death of this military man killed in a tragic and controversial plane crash on July 31, 1981, the former presidential candidate in the general elections held last May asserted that the new party will soon enter the country’s political panorama

“It will be a new organization capable of inspiring Panamanians to be agents of transformations that improve their quality of life and that of their families. Families who continue to wait patiently for their lives to change,” he emphasized.

He also asserted that it will be a broad, non-sectarian platform, adding that we must be aware that the country must be united.

At the commemorative event, Torrijos Espino urged the unification of individuals, groups, and organizations “beyond Torrijosism, combining patriotism with honesty, calling on society to participate in building a common path, a unity with peace in democracy,” he emphasized.

In the last electoral process, Torrijos Espino ran as the presidential candidate for the Popular Party and achieved third place with 16.02 percent of the vote.

Recently, the emerging party, the Broad Front for Democracy, announced that it will establish itself as a political organization after holding internal elections and convening its next congress on August 24th.
