Organized by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), in collaboration with its Union of Young Communists, the event is entitled Rebelde Granma International Festival and will take place from October 17 to 20 this year in Havana.
The Sri Lankan newspapers pointed out the importance of the event as a tribute to the foundation, 60 years ago,of Granma and Juventud Rebelde newspapers, by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, which have the largest circulation in the Caribbean island.
According to its organizers, the festival will create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange between members of politics, academy, culture and grassroots.
The objective of the event is to foster talks, unity and cooperation based on critical thinking, they noted.
According to the conference, the main themes include media manipulation aimed at inciting hatred, distorting the reality of the various nations of the world and fostering the rise of fascism and neo-colonialism, as well as the unity to confront the fourth generation of imperialist tactics.
This year’s event, which will culminate with Cuban Culture Day on October 20, will also pay tribute to the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth, which will be commemorated in August 2026.
At the same time the III International Meeting of Theoretical Expressions of Left Parties and Movements, will be held in Havana from October 15 to 17.
