Jordan urges Arab League to end Israeli occupation

Amman, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) Jordan's permanent representative to the Arab League, Amjad Adaileh, reiterated his country's categorical rejection of the Israeli government's stated intention to reoccupy the Gaza Strip.

According to the official Jordan Petra news agency, this position was expressed by the Hashemite Kingdom’s delegate during an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council held at the level of permanent representatives in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.

The diplomat warned that such a measure undermines the two-state solution and the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state within the June 4, 1967, borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The time has come to take serious and responsible measures to end this occupation and halt the suffering of the Palestinian people, before the region and the world pay a greater price for this continued injustice,” Adaileh stated.

The ambassador condemned the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and territory, calling them a flagrant defiance of international law and UN resolutions.

Adaileh also warned that the announcement of the reoccupation of Gaza constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens ceasefire efforts, worsens the humanitarian crisis, and violates international humanitarian law. Therefore, confronting injustice and aggression requires a firm international stance against the occupation policies.

The official called for urgent international action to halt the aggression, support Egyptian-Qatari-US mediation efforts, implement the prisoner exchange, and ensure the immediate and sustained entry of humanitarian aid.
