For its part, the island’s Foreign Ministry joined the celebration and reaffirmed the importance of this age group in protecting national sovereignty.

Asimimismo added that “the Cuban youth are heirs of the legacy of our heroes and martyrs, in the construction of the Cuba we dream”.

This commemoration has been in force since 1999, by decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The date seeks to involve young people in all areas of society to solve the challenges they face every day.
