The shortage of aid and the spread of chaos are also exacerbating the situation in the territory, ICRC Spokesperson in Gaza Hisham Muhanna told the Safa news agency.
Muhanna criticized the continuation of Israeli military operations and advocated for entering vital supplies in large quantities to mitigate the impact of the conflict on all sectors, including health, water infrastructure, and food.
The spokesperson noted that this measure must be accompanied by security guarantees that allow humanitarian workers to deliver aid to the population.
The ongoing military operations and evacuation orders are hampering our work and that of other relief institutions, amid a dangerous environment that exposes humanitarian actors to harm from attacks, he stressed.
Muhanna recalled that “international humanitarian law is clear and unequivocal” and therefore protection must be provided to civilians, health facilities, and medical personnel.
