“This document, drawn up without any consultation or consent from our country, lacks rigor, objectivity and validity, and is part of a unilateral and interventionist vision that ignores the Bolivian reality and our democratic institutions,” states the text.
The document denounces that, at a time when Bolivia is living in democracy, “despite attempts to destroy it from various fronts and days before the general elections, it is clear that this report intends to influence Bolivian politics”.
States that, in this way, Washington intends to erode public confidence in the Bolivian institutions by making arbitrary and unfounded assertions.
The portfolio said that Bolivia maintains clear its constitutional principles, its commitment to human rights and its attachment to legitimate international mechanisms, built on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry recalls that one of the most important examples in this regard is the universal periodic review of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, where Bolivia has made significant progress on this issue this year.
The Foreign Ministry concludes that the Plurinational State of Bolivia reaffirms that it will continue to work with the international community on the basis of respectful dialogue, genuine cooperation and strict adherence to international law.
Finally, Bolivian diplomacy rejects any attempt to instrumentalize the human rights agenda for purposes alien to its essential purpose.
