Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a consultation about the prospects for resolving the border dispute following Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to the neighboring nation and the holding of the 24th meeting of special representatives.
The spokesperson remembered that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a successful meeting in Kazan in October 2024, which marked a work plan for improving and developing bilateral relations.
Mao stated that China will use Wang Yi’s visit to implement the consensus reached by both countries’ leaders, maintain high-level contacts, strengthen political trust and practical cooperation, and manage differences properly.
The special representatives’ mechanism is the high-level channel for border negotiations between the two nations.
The 23rd meeting held in Beijing in December 2024 achieved progress on key issues such as territorial delimitation, border control, institutional strengthening, and cross-border cooperation.
Since then, China and India have maintained diplomatic communication and made progress in implementing these agreements.
