The Qatari official, who added that Hamas’s response was very positive and the mediation is still awaiting Israel’s official response, expressed that the region is going through a critical humanitarian moment, and if an agreement is not reached now, everyone will face an unprecedented catastrophe.
Al Ansari, who affirmed that there is no specific timeframe, but that talks are continuing on the Israeli side, pointed out that the mediation is still in the response exchange phase and, if an agreement is reached between the two sides, a technical phase will begin to discuss the details of its implementation.
According to the spokesperson, Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani was in direct contact with US envoy Steve Witkoff, and the proposed draft text was formulated by the US side in a previous meeting.
He also announced the existence of direct and daily contact between Qatar and the White House administration to move forward in the negotiations.
Al Ansari emphasized that the main goal is to achieve a ceasefire as quickly as possible to save lives, given the daily humanitarian losses in Gaza Strip due to bombing, food and medicine shortages, and the deteriorating health sector.
