Its program, which aims at reaching a wide audience to strengthen ties between cultural institutions, will feature a grand parade through the Historic Heritage Center of Camaguey.
Afterward, La Ceiba Ceremony will be held, in coordination with the National Yoruba Association of Cuba, led by Pablo Hernandez, president of its provincial branch.
The event’s discussion workshops will feature prominent guests such as Heydi Cepero, Yoelxy Pillinier, president of the Provincial Committee of the Slave Route Project, and university professor Adela Garcia, among other theorists.
Timbalaye will pay tribute to key figures in local culture, such as Agustin Sanchez Batista, former director of the Conga Los Comandos group; Nancy Aviles, a star of Haitian music; and Gilberto Miralles, a scholar of traditional popular culture in Cuba.
Various community sociocultural projects will be an integral part of the event, in addition to tours of the Casa Templo (Temple House) with figures practicing the Congo religion in the province.
This edition thus strengthens the Ruta de la Rumba (Rumba Route) as a fundamental pillar of national culture and its international reach, bringing together scholars, artists, and practitioners of these traditions in Camagüey.
