The French Presidency described as erroneous and abject the opinion expressed by Netanyahu in an official letter sent to Macron, in which he accuses France of fueling antisemitism with its recognition of Palestine.
According to the Elysee Palace, the Israeli Prime Minister’s proposals will not go unchallenged, announcing that a formal letter will be sent to them.
This period demands responsibility, not manipulation. France protects and will always protect its Jewish compatriots, it emphasized.
The day before, Netanyahu’s harsh letter to Macron made headlines, in which he expressed concern about “the alarming rise” of antisemitism on French soil and attributed it to alleged government inaction.
In recent months, Macron has put forward French recognition of Palestine, considering the two-state solution as the only one that will bring peace and security to both peoples.
France also condemns the expansion of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, the objective of which is to control the Palestinian enclave devastated by 22 months of aggression.
