Vietnamese PM demands to step up security on National Day

Hanoi, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today called on relevant agencies to strengthen security and ensure order during the holidays from August 30 to September 2 on the occasion of the National Holiday.

During that time, many important events will take place throughout the country, with the participation of numerous international armed forces and delegations, said the head of government in an official statement issued on Thursday.

The document warns that in those four days “hostile forces can take full advantage of these events to sabotage and divide the large bloc of national unity”.

In addition, the demand from the population for travel, family visits, tourism and participation in commemorative activities, parades and marches increased, posing complex risks to security, order, crime, road safety and fire and explosion safety, among others.

Accordingly, and in order for the people to attend the celebrations in a cheerful, safe and healthy manner, the Prime Minister made the above request to ministers, heads of agencies at the ministerial level, government agencies and chairpersons of people’s committees in the provinces and cities of central administration.

The communication calls for understanding the situation, proactively preventing and having plans to respond to and resolve complex situations that arise, avoiding being passive and organizing forces and means to be in service regularly, especially at the grass-roots level.

This is intended to ensure the safety and security of key objectives, important events in the country, activities of the leaders of the Communist Party (PCV) and the State, international delegations, entertainment activities, travel, health and the ownership of people and companies.

The government order specifies that the Ministries of Public Security and National Defense shall deploy forces, means and measures in a synchronized manner to firmly protect sovereignty, security and national and ethnic interests.

Also strengthen the management of key directions, routes, areas and targets, promptly detect, prevent and neutralize terrorist activities and sabotage by hostile forces, as well as prepare response plans for complex incidents related to security and order, among other actions.
