Air defense downs 54 Ukrainian drones over eight Russian regions

Moscow, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) The air defense operational systems shot down in the last day 54 Ukrainian attack drones that targeted the country's eight southwestern regions, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that 19 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over Bryansk province, 11 over Volgograd province, eight over Rostov, seven over Voronezh, three over Belgorod, three over Oryol, two over Kursk, and one over the Peninsula of Crimea.

The national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported that temporary restrictions have been imposed at the Saratov, Kaluga, Samara, and Volgograd airports in the last day to preserve flight safety and the lives of passengers.

Since the beginning of the special military operation on February 24, 2022, drone attacks launched from Ukraine on military and civilian targets in the Russian rear have become routine.

The Russian provinces bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and the Peninsula of Crimea, regularly report shelling, drone strikes, and other attacks from across the border, forcing the population to seek shelter in safer places.
