In a congratulatory message issued on the 80th anniversary of the sector’s founding on August 28, 1945, To Lam stressed that “the frontlines of foreign diplomacy have always been hand in hand with the political and military fronts.”
The top party leader highlighted that receiving the instruction, training, and direct direction of President Ho Chi Minh, who was the first foreign minister after the country’s independence, is a great pride for the Vietnamese diplomatic service.
He noted that since the early days of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and throughout 30 years of resistance against invasion, for independence, and national unification, diplomacy has been a key force, the first successful protection of the young revolutionary government, and paved the way for the sustainable development of the revolution.
Following the country’s reunification, To Lam added, “diplomacy and foreign affairs maintained their leadership, gradually breaking the siege and embargo, promoting international integration, creating a favorable external environment, and significantly contributing to the successful implementation of the Party Renewal policy.”
At a ceremony held in Hanoi this Monday to commemorate the anniversary, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed that diplomacy over the last 80 years has been a path of courage, intelligence, and unwavering loyalty to the Party, the Homeland, and the people.
