The state news agency KCNA announced that the secretary general of the Workers’ Party and chairman of the State Affairs Committee will participate in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The information points out that Kim will thus attend to the invitation extended by the secretary general of the Communist Party of China and president of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
The DPRK head of state is one of more than 25 leaders who have already confirmed their presence at the military parade, which will be held in Tiananmen Square.
International media outlets highlighted that, for the first time in history, Kim will meet with the presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, at a time.
In all likelihood, they point out, the North Korean leader will meet separately with Xi and Putin to review Pyongyang’s close relations with Beijing and Moscow.
Since assuming leadership of his country in 2011, Kim has visited China four times, three in 2018 and once in 2019. He met with Xi on all four occasions.
