Indian PM visits Japan, and later China

New Delhi, Aug 28 (Prensa Latina) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a three-day official visit to Japan to participate in the 15th Annual Summit between the two countries to later on travel to China.

The India-Japan Annual Summit represents the highest-level bilateral dialogue mechanism, which boosts the agenda of the special and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, official sources stressed.

Officials informed that the meeting between Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, will allow for an in-depth analysis of bilateral ties, assess progress in the last few years in several areas, and exchange views on significant regional and global issues.

It will be an opportunity for New Delhi to present initiatives to strengthen the resilience of ties and respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.

Modi’s program in Japan also includes meetings with other political leaders and friends of India, and his participation in a business forum with key figures from the industries of both countries.

India-Japan ties encompass trade and investment, defense and security, science and technology, infrastructure and mobility, people-to-people contacts, and cultural exchanges.

After he visits Japan, Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, to attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Council (SCO) Heads of State Meeting on August 31 and September 1 on an invitation by President Xi Jinping.
