The statement by the Russian military ministry specified that the Ukrainian Navy’s medium-sized reconnaissance ship Simferopol was destroyed by using an unmanned speedboat at the mouth of the Danube River.
The statement from the military agency added that as a result of the attack, the Ukrainian vessel sank in the estuary of the waterway.
The vessel was launched in 2019 and was equipped with the Meljior electronic intelligence station with a frequency range of 1 to 19 GHz and a maximum range of 450 kilometers, as well as a 30-millimeter AK-306 artillery mount and Igla portable surface-to-air missiles.
